Netrunner is a free operating system for Intel and AMD based desktop computers, laptops and netbooks. It comes in two versions: Maui, The Standard release is based on KDE Neon (and therefore on the Ubuntu LTS release—previous releases were Kubuntu-based Linux), while Rolling is Manjaro-based (and therefore an Arch derivate) and released as so called rolling release snapshots. Both versions feature a highly customised KDE desktop with extra applications, multimedia codecs, Flash and Java plugins, and the same look and feel. The modifications are designed to enhance the user-friendliness of the desktop environment while still preserving the freedom to tweak.

KDEKDE Plasma 5 is the fifth and current generation of the desktop environment created by KDE primarily for Linux systems. KDE Plasma 5 is the successor of KDE Plasma 4 and was initially released on 15 July 2014. It includes a new default theme, known as "Breeze", as well as increased convergence across different devices. The graphical interface was fully migrated to QML, which uses OpenGL for hardware acceleration resulting in better performance and reduced power consumption.
